OpenClaw Remote Access

Open the OpenClaw on your home computer from your phone while you’re out, and talk to it as if you were at home.

  • No ports to open on your router, no networking software on every device.
  • Only you can open it by default, and OpenClaw can never be set to “Everyone”.
  • It follows OpenClaw’s own advice: don’t put the Gateway directly on the public internet.
  1. On the computer running OpenClaw, install the UUMit desktop app and finish “Connect this computer”.

  2. The app detects a running OpenClaw automatically. Tick it in the app list and choose “Only me”.

  3. If OpenClaw isn’t detected, run this in a terminal:

    Terminal window
    uumit-connector openclaw setup

Add --port <port> if you changed its port. Newly added apps start as Off until you choose who can use them.

OpenClaw gets its own address:

https://openclaw--<your-name>.agent-cn.example/

You sign in to UUMit first, then enter OpenClaw’s own token — two layers of protection.

  • OpenClaw can only be set to “Only me” or “Me and people I invite”.
  • We recommend turning on “Confirm it’s you on your phone”: opening it on a new device needs one tap on your phone.
  • If OpenClaw’s own token is off, the desktop app reminds you to turn it on first.

OpenClaw’s command line or macOS app on another computer can also reach your home OpenClaw:

Terminal window
uumit-connector openclaw remote <your-name>

This writes the remote connection settings for you (backing up the old file first). For manual setup and clients that can’t send custom headers, see the developer guide.

Switch OpenClaw to “Me and people I invite”, then send an invite link as described in Invite a Friend.

It says “The app on your computer isn’t responding” What happened: the address reached your computer, but OpenClaw didn’t answer. Why: the OpenClaw Gateway isn’t running, or its port changed. How to fix: start OpenClaw on the computer; if you changed the port, run uumit-connector openclaw setup --port <port> again.

Does the OpenClaw iPhone app work? For now, open the address above in your phone’s browser. We’ll update this page when the app can connect directly.
