FAQ

Does my computer need to stay on? Yes. The address opens apps on your computer, so they can’t be reached while it’s off or asleep. Turn on “Keep computer awake” in the desktop app’s settings and it won’t sleep while apps are online. From the command line: uumit-connector config set prevent_sleep on.

What happens when I close my laptop? What happened: the address shows “Computer offline”. Why: most laptops sleep when the lid closes, which drops the connection. How to fix: plug in and allow the system to stay awake with the lid closed; it reconnects automatically when it wakes.

Will it change my network? No. The app only makes outbound connections. It doesn’t open ports, install a virtual network adapter, or change routes or system proxy settings.

Does it conflict with Clash or Tailscale? Usually not; you can use them together. If you can’t connect, run uumit-connector diag to create a diagnostics bundle (no credentials included) and send it to support.

My antivirus blocked it. What now? Check the installer’s SHA-256 as described on the install page. If it matches, add UUMit to your antivirus allow list.

Will my address change if I switch computers? No. Remove the old one under “My computers”, then connect the new one. Your address stays the same.

Can others see anything else on my computer? No. Only apps you ticked and set “Who can use it” for can be opened. Other ports and files are never reached.

Why can’t OpenClaw be set to “Everyone”? OpenClaw can act on your computer. For your safety it can only be “Only me” or “Me and people I invite”.

How do I turn everything off at once? Tap “Turn everything off” on the home page on your phone or the web. No app can be opened from that moment; turn them back on one by one when needed.

My time-limited share link stopped working What happened: visitors see “This link is no longer valid”. Why: it expired, you revoked it, or it reached its open limit. How to fix: create a new link in the app.

My friend can’t open the invite link What happened: your friend sees “This invite is no longer valid”. Why: it expired, was revoked, or all its uses were taken. How to fix: check its status in “Who can use my stuff” and send a new one.

Why can’t a Mainland web page be open to everyone? On Mainland, “Everyone” is only for data APIs. To show a page to everyone, use a time-limited share link; the platform checks the home page first.

Why do I need to confirm it’s me on my phone? Remote login apps can fully control your computer. One tap on your phone each time a new device opens it stops someone who got hold of your sign-in from walking straight in.

Does the platform read my data? No. It records only time, address, app, caller, status code and bytes — never the content of requests or responses. See Security & Privacy.

What’s the difference between Mainland and International? They are two independent sets of accounts and data, each stored in its own region. Mainland offers time-limited share links; International lets you set a web page to “Everyone” directly.

Can I move my account to the other region? Not directly. Sign up in the other edition and connect your computer again.
